Frequently Asked Questions
What is synchronisation licensing?
Synchronisation licensing involves the licensing of songs for use with visual images (e.g. TV shows, films, commercials etc). Our licensing catalogue is 100% pre-cleared for all media use and allows us to deliver the music needed for your project quickly and efficiently.

Mango Reel is a ‘one-stop’ licensing solution which means we can clear the rights, handle fee negotiations and sort all the paperwork on behalf of our represented artists, labels and publishers. We take the hassle out of the entire licensing process.

How do I license music from your catalogue?
Once you have decided which track(s) you intend to use you will need to complete a Music Licensing Request Form. This gives us a better understanding of how you intend to use the music and helps speed up the licensing process. In some cases we may ask the Artist before approving the usage. It’s important you give us as much information as possible at this stage so that we, and the artist/composer, can make a well informed decision.

How much will a license cost?
There are many variables that can contribute to licensing a piece of music. Any quotation we give takes into consideration (amongst other factors) the rights required and the budget you’re working with. Wherever possible we  try to deliver the music you need within your budget. We do not have a 'fixed' price for licensing a song but work on a rate card basis to ensure consistency.

For further information contact us with your requirements.

My license request has been denied. How can I appeal?
Should your request be denied we do not, under any circumstances, offer an appeal process. Mango Reel retains the right to choose whether or not to permit the use of the musical work and we are not obligated to justify our decision. There may be record company issues, publishing issues or contractual barriers applicable to your request that prevent us from licensing the track to your project.

We endeavour to handle all licensing requests quickly and efficiently and will contact you if there are any problems affecting your application.

I am a student film maker and want to use a song in my film. Do you grant free licenses?
We try to support student film makers wherever possible. However, we are in the business of representing independent artists, composers, labels and publishers who rely on their music as a primary source of income.
If you have a limited music budget then we would normally look to you for a proposed fee.

In some cases we may be able to grant a non-commercial gratis license. This is at the discretion of the artist or composer and may take up to 3-4 weeks to clear the rights required. We receive a large number of gratis requests and due to the amount of time involved in researching, securing third party approvals, and licensing, we find it necessary to charge an administration fee (no less than £10.00).

You can find out more and download our gratis license request form here.

What if I can’t find what I’m looking for?
Mango Reel is a full service creative music agency. If you can’t find a piece of music that fits your project in our catalogue... We’ll find it for you. If you need something more bespoke... We’ll write it for you!

Contact us with your brief and we’ll take the hassle out of sourcing great music.

Can I submit a demo for consideration to be placed in your catalogue?
We do accept submissions to our catalogue from time to time. As a responsible music licensing company our first priority is to promote the work of our represented artists and composers. We don’t play the ‘numbers game’ and only tend to accept new music that we feel we can genuinely promote to our clients.

Further information on submitting your music to us is available here.
