Goonies Never Say Die
IN A FOREST WITHOUT TREES is an intricate mixture of progressive rock and atmospherics doused with an emotional to and fro that pulls and releases in all the right places. Balancing lush, minor landscapes of sound with big swathes of noisy, fire-peaked crescendos, Goonies make the quieter bits sound every bit as compulsive as the explosive highlights. This is headphone music at its finest: swelling dynamics, colorful interludes, thick melodies...like a fireworks display, only sometimes in slow motion.

THIS IS MY SHIP keeps an animated pace throughout its twelve exuberant tracks. Songs like "Prego Triangolos" and "St. Petersburg" give you an idea of which dynamic, spiky Q and Not U-esque school of indie rock these boys attend, but the handclaps and catchy hooks on cuts like "Once, Twice, Again!" remind us that, first and foremost, the band is here to make you move. It's a fun, riotous listen with genuine heart and intriguing complexities.

Free Diamonds has always shown a strong affinity for an undeniably catchy melody. It's the reason why their music brings a mischievous smile to our faces as we allow the palatable sass to somersault around our brains before it sweetly stings our ears.
If you're not already infatuated with this three piece's off-kilter, quirky post-punk, adrenaline-fuelled freak-outs, you soon will be!
